Save Our Cinema

On the 16th of April 2021, EcoWorld Aquarium and Picton Cinemas received a notice from our landlord Port Marlborough that they would not be renewing our existing lease as previously discussed, and we were given three months notice to close our business, "dispose of" our animals, and clear the location to bare land so PMNZ could then decide on an alternative use for the site.

We want to keep EcoWorld Aquarium and Picton Cinemas open, operating, and continuing to provide all of our valuable services and benefits to our wider community. Under the impression that the lease would be renewed, we have taken our case to the high court where we are awaiting information and decisions relating to the future of our business, our employment, and our animals.

We are currently operating in limbo, unsure of what the future holds for us, so are working under the motto "Hope for the best, but plan for the worst"

This page has been put together in response to people asking us "How can we help". Below are some links to our campaign sites, and we will post updates on here when we get more information.

Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, donated, and supported us so far - the team here at EcoWorld (and the wider Picton community) really appreciate your support!
